Welcome to the Cascades Social and Sports Club

The Cascades Club is a non-profit, community organization established in 1920 as a social and athletic club owned and managed by its members. All of our members are part owners. We welcome new members and everyone is welcome. Our facilities are available for hire/rent by both members and non-members. Many weddings, anniversaries, meetings and community events have taken place in the Club over the past 80+ years.

Cascades Club: Something Special from Just About Nothing

THANK YOU, Cascades Club Members!!!

Great news for the Cascades Club and community! The paddling club has won $90,000. The money will be well spent securing the lease of the land and purchasing the materials to build an equipment shelter. The future indeed looks very bright and this is something our entire community will enjoy for years to come.
Thanks to the Aviva Community Fund for recognizing so many great community initiatives, and thanks to our community, our Aviva brokers, and the many supporters! Cascades can now focus on doing what we do best ~ continue to offer excellence at all programming levels!
Please go to the AVIVA site to see our official submission AVIVA Community Fund. To learn more about our AVIVA idea, please see the description of our idea in English or in French, or watch a video .

Our idea is to obtain funding to secure our 1/3 acre piece of waterfront property (via a long term lease) for future generations to enjoy waterfront activities. We also hope to have some funds left over to launch the campaign to build a boat shelter on the land for our equipment and our athletes.

The Cascades Club is considerably more than a sports club for elite athletes. The Gatineau River has been paddled and enjoyed by countless generations, yet the Cascades Club is the only Club that offers paddling programs on the river, and through it, one of the few remaining access points to the Gatineau River. We see the connection to a great Canadian river as part of our national psyche, and we offer ourselves and our facilities to a wide array of people and causes, whose lives and well-being are enhanced by the opportunity to share in this connection.

The Cascades Club has many facilities available to its members as part of their membership benefits. We have:

  • a ball diamond,
  • soccer field,
  • childrens play area,
  • squash courts,
  • fitness room,
  • waterfront access,
  • full meeting/banquet facilities,
  • full kitchen and catering services,
  • newly constructed licensed Bar.

The Cascades Club offers many different programs and activites throughout the year. Members as well as non-members are welcome to attend and participate.

  • Family Club Nights
  • Summer Kids Camp
  • Morning Exercise Classes
  • Yoga
  • Spinning
  • Squash Ladder
  • Kids Paddling Club & Training
  • Paddling Regattas
  • Dragon Boat Paddling & Training

The Club is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Antony Southam is currently President and all rules governing the Club may be found in the About Us section. Everyone is welcome a the AGM which takes place in and around February every year.

Over the past few years membership at the Club has increased at a steady rate, The Kids Summer Camp is very popular especially with the kids and the Paddling Club is winning medals. So come see what's going on and join the fun!
